IRON MAIDEN's NICKO MCBRAIN To Co-Host SAVFEST USA
October 18, 2013On Saturday, October 19 at The Legendary Dobbs in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain will co-host Savfest USA, a music festival scheduled to support a great charity, Ian's Chain, which was founded by English DJ Alan Savill after his son Ian committed suicide last year. The charity benefits people who are suffering from depression and are suicidal. Each band performing is donating its time for this cause.
Scheduled performers:
BLACKOCEAN
CITADEL
ANVIL BITCH
DECYPHER
MEATPLOW
SLANDER
FAITH OR FEAR
EVIL REIGN
BONE DEVIL
The 21+ show will run from 7:00 p.m. until about 11:30 p.m.
Tickets are $20.
There will be an auction with exclusive items, and there will also be event t-shirts for sale.
All of the money raised goes to Ian's Chain.
A portion of the money will go overseas with Alan, which he plans to use to purchase a motorhome where people suffering from depression can take vacations with their families and escape. The local event organizers plan to give an additional portion of funds raised to Philadelphia-area suicide prevention groups.
Joe Madden, one of the event planners, told Examiner.com: "This is a great way for rock fans to see these great local bands and help a charity, Ian's Chain. This benefits people that are suffering from depression and are suicidal. It came about from my friend Alan Savill, who is a radio DJ in England. His son, Ian, killed himself and Alan was devastated. However, he turned a negative into a positive and founded this organization. The money will go to help people with depression pay for getaways from everyday life."
He added: "We want to have an auction and give fans time to meet Nicko. Philly is such a strong city for MAIDEN and Nicko is looking forward to signing fans' MAIDEN stuff."
